Technology for competitive food processing
Integrated maintenance and production control systems
I am currently undertaking a Ph.D. (or rather Dr. ing. as it is called at NTNU). Some argues that the correct translation
for doktor ingeniør stipendiat is Research fellow. The term doctoral student is
also in use.
My funding for this three-year project comes from The Research Council of Norway.
The main objectives of the Ph.D. are described below:
- A strategy for integrating production management and maintenance management specially
adapted for the Food Processing Industry, are to be developed. This strategy aims to
optimalize the utilization of company-resources. The optimalization includes equipment,
man-power, raw-material, product-quality and more.
- Based on the today-situation in the food processing industry, and with the aid of
scenarios for the industry's development into the next century, demands in terms of:
regularity, flexibility and quality and more will arise that will affect the production
and maintenance management. Based on these demands, new tools for management are needed.
Prototyping of such tools will be part of the Ph.D.
(More about this will be published)
